Je až nato&#318;ko zhnusen&yacute;, že si k&uacute;pi zbra&#328; a rozhodne sa urobi&#357; nie&#269;o ve&#318;k&eacute; pod&#318;a vzoru Herostr&aacute;ta, ktor&yacute; zap&aacute;lil v antike chr&aacute;m, aby sa zap&iacute;sal do dej&iacute;n. Chce zabi&#357; a potom sp&aacute;cha&#357; samovraždu. Av&scaron;ak nakoniec len postrel&iacute; &#269;loveka a nie je schopn&yacute; zabi&#357; ani len seba. Vzd&aacute; sa. </p>

Medzit&yacute;m im vyhor&iacute; dom. Pres&#357;ahuj&uacute; sa do Me&#318;o&scaron;ovie &#8211; krstn&yacute; rodi&#269;ia. Jožo sa za&#318;&uacute;bi do Maru&scaron;e Me&#318;o&scaron;ovej. Rozhodne sa postavi&#357; si dom. Od&iacute;de do h&ocirc;r na pr&aacute;cu. Tu stretne skuto&#269;n&eacute;ho otca Gregora Bia&#318;o&scaron;a, ale toho v hore zabije strom. Odch&aacute;dza na vojnu. Ke&#271; sa vr&aacute;ti krstn&aacute; je m&#341;tva a Jano sa oženil s Maru&scaron;ou. Jožo si vezme Julu Petriskov&uacute;. B&yacute;vaj&uacute; v&scaron;etci v jednom dome. Maru&scaron;a je z Joža ne&scaron;&#357;astn&aacute; &#8211; ve&#318;a pije až sa utop&iacute;. Jožovi sa narod&iacute; die&#357;a. Odch&aacute;dza na robotu a aj Jano z&aacute;hadne zmizne. Raz na pohrebe, ke&#271; spadla a otvorila sa truhla, p&aacute;n Heribert zistil, že ten vn&uacute;tri nie je m&#341;tvy. Vzal ho na lie&#269;enie domov. Najsk&ocirc;r mu nikto neveril -volali ho Kazisvet. Nakoniec aj tak sa str&aacute;nil &#318;ud&iacute;. <br /><b></p>

Hoci i&scaron;li na pohreb, nesm&uacute;tili za radcom, ba pr&aacute;ve naopak, jeho manželka myslela na nov&yacute; život, ktor&yacute; ju &#269;akal a t&iacute;, na ktor&yacute;ch si p&aacute;n radca spomenul v z&aacute;vete uvažovali, ako s peniazmi naloži&#357;. Olinka, tak isto ako in&eacute; sle&#269;ny, dala prednos&#357; oficierom. Urazen&iacute; p&aacute;ni odch&aacute;dzaj&uacute; do baru. Lenže vtedy sa ozval alarm a vojaci museli od&iacute;s&#357;. Pre d&aacute;my, ktor&eacute; ostali na parkete sam&eacute;, to znamenalo hanbu. <br /><b></p>

Diev&#269;a odch&aacute;dza pre&#269; do mesta a J&aacute;n je sklaman&yacute;. Rozhodne sa vr&aacute;ti&#357; do mesta a h&#318;ad&aacute; ju. </p>
<p>-<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <u>Tom&aacute;&scaron; Jurga</u> -je tul&aacute;k. Kedysi miloval O&#318;gu, ale to už je pre&#269;. Nikdy nevydrž&iacute; na jednom mieste, a preto odch&aacute;dza do mesta do star&eacute;ho bytu, ktor&yacute; mu m&aacute; pripomen&uacute;&#357; jeho najv&auml;&#269;&scaron;iu l&aacute;sku Ingeborg (ona je ale m&#341;tva). Je umeleck&yacute;m maliarom -znova odch&aacute;dza a ost&aacute;va tul&aacute;kom. </p>
<p>-<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <u>Peter Jurga</u> &#8211; je not&aacute;r na dedine. Op&iacute;ja sa a vedie roztopa&scaron;n&iacute;cky život, i ke&#271; je ženat&yacute;. Ženu t&yacute;ra a ponižuje a don&uacute;ti ju prija&#357; sl&uacute;žku Katku, s ktorou &#269;ak&aacute; die&#357;a. Peter nakoniec op&uacute;&scaron;&#357;a obidve ženy a Katka ho nakoniec z pomsty zabije. </p>
<p>-<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Tom&aacute;&scaron; na svojich potulk&aacute;ch dostane list od J&aacute;na, že sa ide ženi&#357;. Vracia sa teda do rodn&eacute;ho domu. Medzit&yacute;m sa Arne oženil s O&#318;gou. Tom&aacute;&scaron; zis&#357;uje, že sa za&#318;&uacute;bil do O&#318;gy -pochytia ho pocity ne&scaron;&#357;astia. Arne, ke&#271; pochop&iacute; pre&#269;o Tom&aacute;&scaron; odch&aacute;dza, vzd&aacute; sa O&#318;gy a po&scaron;le ju za Tom&aacute;&scaron;om. On ju odmietne a pokra&#269;uje v tul&aacute;ctve. <br /><b></p>
